Why does Wash-Hubs aim to help eliminate PFAS “forever chemicals” from the food chain?

WASH-HUBS aims to help the events industry eliminate its contribution to the toxic build up of PFAS, BPF, glues, resins and other unknown compounds that cause devastating health problems and permanent irreversible pollution.

WHY ?

Bloomberg documentary

Even most paper,  bagasse or corn starch “compostable” “biodegradable” packaging contain PFAS, because they are so widely used and under regulated.

Very few PFAS free products are available.

`We found only one supplier in Europe and two in the USA who are working on "alternative compounds" in compostables which have not yet been tested for safety`.

Canadian report about the PFAS threat and how the industry is unregulated

The use of PFAS and other unknown compounds is largely unregulated. Monitoring is so lax that even the food packaging forum has discovered 32 out of 42 products contain excessive amounts of chemicals, not limited to PFAS.

The Royal Society of Chemistry

Is pushing for a tenfold reduction of the current cap per individual PFAS type – from 100 nanograms per litre to 10 nanograms per litre – as well as an overall limit of 100 nanograms per litre for the total amount of PFAS.

Britain’s thresholds are currently far more lenient than those in other leading economies. For example, the United States is introducing a limit of four nanograms per litre for two of the most common PFAS types – PFOS and PFOA – and the EU’s Drinking Water Directive states that 20 widespread PFAS must collectively not exceed 100 nanograms per litre in total.”

Our business model will eliminate the need for all disposables and plastic reusables affordably and practically, benefitting the whole industry to eliminate this exploding health time bomb.

Forever chemicals cause:

endocrine disorders, infertility, a range of cancers

They are used in almost all food and drinks packaging including those claiming compostable and or biodegradable status and including reusables made from plastic.

CHEMSEC is an international NGO working on the plastics treaty this week. Their goal is to inform, create policy, and support companies or projects that have solutions to remove PFAS from the supply chain.

Wash-hubs is proud to have signed the CHEMSEC commitment to eliminate PFAS from the supply chain as a core business objective.

Our service will eliminate plastics made from fossil fuels and allow use of land for food production instead of promoting the growth of vegetable oil for “green” plastics production.

Wash Hubs is a forever solution to forever chemicals.
